Noah's Wish Volunteers: Fires are being monitored

All Noah's Wish volunteers should be aware that the fires throughout BC are being monitored at this time by the four coordinators in the Province.

Should a large scale evacuation alert and/or order come into effect e-mails and telephone calls will be made to determine your availability to deploy.

Storm Causes New Fires

A lightening storm worked its way northwards through the Kamloops Fire Centre last evening.

More than 300 lightening strikes have been recorded in the past 12 hours, most of them being within the Kamloops Fire Centre boundaries.

This lightening is responsible for ten new fires, with the biggest being the three-hectare fire near Barnhartvale just south of Kamloops. Air tankers and BCFS initial attack crews are assisting the local fire department with fire suppression efforts on that incident.

The lightening storm is still active over the region with little precipitation is accompanying the storm.

The Chuwhels Fire is stable today at 800 hectares with ground crews, aircraft and heavy equipment working to establish
