Animal Advocates Watchdog

His name was 'OJ' *LINK*

Almost one year ago I posted a message regarding the guard dogs at West Coast Engineering in Delta's Tilbury Industrial Park. In that message I talked about Brutus and Sassy, two dogs who had lived there and who had died there in the same year.

Sadly I played a part in Brutus' death, as much a part as he played in my life. As awful as his death was I am certain it was better than his life. He spent his life guarding property and was nothing more than that himself.

Sassy spent her life in the same way but no one knows how she died. OJ was purchased to take Brutus' place and is now dead as well. OJ died suddenly and without notice or care to anyone but the few who knew he was there.

I only found out he was dead when I was visiting the Delta Humane Society this past weekend and was told by a volunteer who knew him. This volunteer always makes a point of checking in on the guard dogs at West Coast who 'live' close to the shelter. He checks through the fence to make sure they have water and gives them biscuits. He always finds out their names and always visits when he is there. OJ was not there when he last visited. OJ had died and had been replaced. I am sure he will know the new dog's name soon enough. The new dog is another young, strong, male Rottweiler.

So, now Brutus, Sassy and OJ are dead. Jazzy is the name of the female they purchased once Sassy mysteriously died. She lived there with OJ after Sassy's death and will now live there with this new dog. Once again two dogs 'live' there, too soon they will die there after no life at all.

I am so sorry OJ. I am sorry to you all.
