The Buy and Sell is now one of the BC SPCA's corporate friends. It is packed with ads for puppymill dogs and cats, dangerous breeds like Pit Bulls crossed with Presa Canarios, reptiles, birds, in fact the whole vile trade in helpless animals.

But then so are most newspaper classified sections and probably no one would object to the SPCA being corporate friends with the Vancouver Sun or Province.

It's not where you advertise that matters, it's how you sell.

This SPCA ad shows a young German Shepherd in need of training that the Richmond SPCA is selling. How much follow-up will be done by the SPCA on this dog? Will it provide the training that it needs to be a safe member of society? Will it do a home check? Will it make follow-up calls in the months ahead to make sure everything is going well?

Anything less is not animal welfare, it is pet reselling.
