Moriarty neglected to mention the cost of the lawsuit the SPCA is still bringing against AAS and defendants, and all the expensive legal gymnastics it is paying for.

When the SPCA seized Quirinus van Dongen's cattle, they made him pay $12,000 to get the cattle back (many had become seriously ill from a disease picked up at the auction yard where the SPCA kept them.

The SPCA lost the case. The judge found that the animals had not been neglected or were suffering distress.

Then van Dongen had to sue the SPCA to get his $12,000 back. You'd think this was a no-brainer - the seizure was wrong so the SPCA doesn't get to keep the money.

But you'd be wrong. The judge in the suit to get the SPCA to return van Dongen's money dismissed the suit on the grounds that there wasn't enough evidence that the seizure was wrong.

A judgement in a superior court isn't enough evidence? The law really sometimes is "a ass".
