VANCOUVER (CP) - Raunchy club queen Peaches is adding her voice to the celebrity protest against Canada's seal hunt.

The Toronto native is featured prominently in a new print ad by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The campaign, to be launched by Peaches in Vancouver on Thursday, has the sexually explicit performer posing next to a photo of a hunter about to bludgeon a baby seal.

A tagline next to the photo reads: "Canada's Club Scene Sucks" - Peaches.

About 333,000 baby harp seals were killed for their fur just this year, PETA said Wednesday in a release.

The federal Fisheries Department recently reported this year's seal hunt was one of the most successful ever, with a landed value between $25 million and $30 million.

Peaches joins several musicians and actors - including Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson, and Brigitte Bardot - who have condemned the seal hunt.

The 39-year-old singer, born Merrill Nisker, is currently touring to promote her latest album Impeach My Bush.
