I am writing in response to the picture that appeared in the Surrey Leader on Aug. 2 entitled “Rough Ride.”
It is truly disturbing that the media continues to glorify cowboys as courageous individuals, and even more disturbing that the public continues to attend these horrific events.
You would think that in today’s society we could all find something better to do on a Friday night than watch men abuse animals.
There’s nothing admirable about men who ride frightened bulls for a living, and there’s nothing entertaining about it either.
It’s an undeniable fact that bulls are physically provoked into bucking using flank straps that irritate their sensitive undersides.
And, it’s an undeniable fact that this is cruelty – and it’s cruelty we can prevent.
