If I'd have known how dog friendly the Oregon Coast is

If I'd have known how dog friendly the Oregon Coast was going to be I'd have taken Shadow with us. There were dogs with travelers mixing with locals everywhere you looked, and there were no bylaws or leash laws! The freedom was unreal, and the amazing part was that I never saw one dog fight (I'm guessing because they were spread out more and not confined to a "dog park"), I think I noticed maybe three poops in a week that were not picked up (the beach was over three miles long) and all the hotels and stores were pet friendly too. Water bowls lined the sidewalks in shopping districts. The dogs were simply an extension of each family, and it was ok to take them into ice-cream shops, etc too. It made our abundance of dog-related bylaws here seem so ridiculous. Vancouver and the Lower Mainland has really turned anti-dog over the years. I remember as a child we had this same kind of freedom that Oregon still enjoys. Sad that it all changed.
