Our local paper, COMOX VALLEY ECHO, has a section for Beefs and Bouquets in the letter/opinion area. This was my submission on August 26, 2006.

My Beef is with WALMART. I was surprised to see the store carrying FUR trimmed ladies jackets. The fur certainly looked real and after reading the label saw nothing to say it wasn't. I realize that it's hard to tell the difference these days between real and fake and since nothing has to be labeled if it is real under a certain dollar value it's hard for a consumer to tell.I personally could never wear real fur and wouldn't purchase anything fake on the off chance it was real and ended up with a companion animal around my neck. With all the exposure on the inhumane practices in the FUR TRADE, whether they be wild, captive, farm or companion animals how could WALMART carry anything with fur trim. Walmart does a lot of good things in the Valley and one example is the donation bin you set up periodically for the SPCA. I hope you continue to support the SPCA and maybe you could lose the fur trimmed jackets.
