Dog restrictions applauded

Dear editor,

More often than not, regulations devised by Comox Strathcona Regional District are met with much eye-rolling and discontented mutterings.

However, with the board approval of the new “kennel regulations,” the CSRD deserves nothing but kudos.

The complaint that new kennel regulations put “unfair onus on dog owners” is completely idiotic. Should the onus be on the dogs?

The Drummond family may live in the country so they can have 10 dogs, but many of us live in the country with the hope of finding peace and quiet.

Having to endure the constant, non-stop barking of a dog, or many dogs, is incredibly irritating and nerve-wracking and should not have to be tolerated by anyone (even in the city).

The number one complaint received by our area director is barking dogs. People who allow their dogs to bark incessantly should know this: we are sick of listening to them and we will continue to lobby for bylaws that have a bigger bite.Johanna Clark,
