The greatest number of animals suffer for meat eaters. No other way of using animals even comes close to the amount of suffering caused to helpless animals.

As long as there is a purchaser, there will be a product. And if the source of the product is any part of an animal - even its coat (sheep), or its milk, or its eggs, the animals will suffer. The male chicks are killed, even if the layers are free-range. Veal calves and beef are a side-product of dairy food production even if the milk producer treats his cows humanely.

Purchasers prefer their purchases to be cheap so the meat/dairy/fish/chicken/egg producers make sure their products are cheaply produced. Cruelty is cheap - compassion is costly.

This is not "holier-than-thou" - it is facts.
