I have just read the story on the planned expansion of the aquarium. Years ago I was part of a group against any expansion of the Vancouver Aquarium. We were particularly concerned about capturing more whales and putting them in 'big bathtubs' just to gain more money

The same thing is happening in Calgary. There is a proposal that includes building holding tanks and bringing in whales here along with other animals from the Arctic. An organization called ZooCheck has been active in protests but it isn't enough. With so much oil money around alot of people aren't thinking straight
