Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders continues to care for the most vulnerable *PIC*

Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders held their always well attended monthly "Vets for Pets" Street Clinic on October 23, 2006 at "Our Place", 713 Johnson Street.

Dr. Kam Brar of LifeLine Animal Hospital on Shelbourne provided care for 13 cats and dogs this month.. The dogs and cats received vaccinations, flea treatments, de-wormers and antibiotics if required. Along with these important services Spay and Neuter is discussed and those cats and dogs who still need to be fixed are booked for appointments at Lifeline Clinic. These surgeries are paid for by GVAC through our spay/neuter fund.

Sometimes an older dog or cat requires other surgery to provide comfort and "Sheba", a 10 yr old rotti/shepherd is having a lump removed soon as it has grown since last month and Dr. Brar feels now is the time to remove it so GVAC will also pay for this for Sheba. "Chewie" attended his third clinic with his owner and it was good to see that his serious skin condition is on the mend and he is feeling much better. This clinic is providing caring owners with the ability to properly care for their pets despite a lack of proper finances and housing and it is rewarding to see owners return for the required care for their pets on a monthly basis. Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders also provides proper food, leashes, collars, food and water dishes, coats , blankets and carriers for these animals. Donations of any of the above items are appreciated with small bags of good quality food suitable for knapsacks being preferable as are pull-open cans of wet food for dogs and cats. Specialty foods from the vet office for particular conditions such as allergies and urinary troubles are appreciated as well.

GVAC strongly believes in this clinic to ensure that all animals in our community are kept healthy.
