LANGLEY - When a tree fell on the hood of a passing vehicle on 200th Street last week, RCMP investigated.

On Monday police revealed they had determined the cause of the Oct. 29 mishap, which resulted in minor damage to the vehicle and disrupted traffic.

A beaver felled the tree.

"The animal is apparently building a home in the culvert underneath 200 Street," the Langley RCMP announced. "It also appears that it has been chewing the trunks of other trees in the immediate area, which could lead to them falling unexpectedly on passing vehicles or pedestrians."

The Langley RCMP has reported the incident to the Langley Township engineering department so damaged trees near the roadway can be removed to prevent further incidents.
