Special needs dog needs a special person - Abby is in urgent need! *LINK* *PIC*

Abby is in urgent need of a new foster home or a foster to adopt home as her current foster Mom's life has become too busy to provide the care for Abby's needs.
If you are home the majority of the day, have a ton of love to give and are motivated to help a young, happy, loving girl find her way to health and happiness please contact Big Heart Rescue ASAP.

This is what Abby's foster Mom has to say about this sweetheart!

Abby is your typical lab- full of energy, always smiling and always playing. When we go for off-leash walks with our dog friends she is in the lead the whole time! She LOVES to play chase especially if, as usual she’s in the lead. Nothing slows this little girl down: over logs, around trees and through bushes she goes; she likes to play in the water as well but I think she gets cold faster than most dogs for the lack of meat on her bones but that will change when she gets some more weight on her.

Abby passed her last health check with flying colors: her vet was pleased with her vitals and announced that she had even gained a pound! Way to go Lishy! Thanks to her homeopathic remedy (given only once daily) food seems to find its way down to her tummy with much more ease that it ever used to; she’ll be up to 40lbs in no time!

This little monkey is one of the most affectionate dogs I’ve ever met: it doesn’t matter if you’re watching TV. or at the computer- Abby wants to be on your lap. She has come a long way from the crazy, untrained, yard dog that she was when she came to Big Heart Rescue. Abby is very happy and content almost anywhere as long as there’s someone to cuddle and play with her. She sits when asked (even if it’s only for a fraction of a second), she is gentle when given food and comes when she’s called (most of the time)!

Abbey likes to collect shoes but I think she just snuggles with them, as she has never left even a single tooth mark on any of the ones I have found stashed in her bed. Squeaky toys are her heaven on earth- they’re the only thing that take precedence over dinner! She is very well socialized with both humans and dogs and she kind of likes our cat too! I would also like to announce that Abby is one of the only dogs who can get my Bassett Hound off the couch to play! QUITE an accomplishment Abby!

Because Abby’s disease (darling Abby has a condition known as Megaesophagus) makes it difficult for food to reach her stomach she needs to be fed three cans of food a day, (one can three times a day) until she reaches her goal weight of 40lbs; in the right environment with people who have the time to feed her all her servings I have no doubt that Abby will flourish- we just need to find that special place and special people.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FOSTER OR ADOPT ABBY PLEASE CONTACT: spiritsmission@shaw.ca to fill out an application form. Darling Abby has a condition known as Megaesophagus and is searching for a family to love her with her special needs.

NOTE: Big Heart Rescue adopts within a two hour drive of the lower mainland and on Vancouver and the Gulf Islands only.
