Heartless Abandonment . . . *PIC*

Pacific Animal Foundation was called late last week about a mother cat and five kittens roaming an industrial park complex in Burnaby. Office workers had spied the cat and her kittens and began feeding them.

The weather was very cold and snowy and the office staff were worried about their survival. Mom and the kittens were mostly living in wooden pallets and an old lumber pile around the base of a loading dock area.

Two nights ago, PAF volunteers met up with office staff and set traps. The snow, in one way, was a help - we were able to track cat footprints ! After 2 cold hours, we had trapped all 5 kittens and picked up mom cat.

We think they must have been dumped in the industrial park during the holidays as there are no residences, in any direction, for at least 2 miles. Three little girls and two little boys. How many kittens would that have been this summer with mom also producing?

Our sweet, gentle, totally friendly little mother cat. We've named her Savannah. She's only about 7 1/2 pounds so on the thin side which is understandable. Her little grey, tabby coat is so soft. Once in our care last night, she calmed immediately. She still grooms her babies.
