North Shore Bear Fest

Hi everybody, just a quick note that we will be participating in the first Annual Vancouver Bear Fest this up coming weekend along with Charlie Russel and Ben Kilham. We will have a booth on Sunday at the Festival and I wanted to let you know that if you should be around that area on Sunday we would love to meet with you in person and thank you for your support.

For more info go to www.northshorebearfest.com (you may get the shaw window up first…just close and see the website up-it is a shaw members website)

Our bear cubs are all awake and active and we he hope that this weekend will be a fundraiser towards the upcoming release of those cubs. We currently have nine cubs that should be ready to go next month. We will have to travel to Kamloops (2 cubs 1800 km round trip), Quesnell (2 cubs 1000 km round trip), McBride (1 cub 1400 km round trip), Hazelton (1 cub 150 km round trip), Terrace (2 cubs 500 km round trip) and the last cub is a local one. As you can see by the distance ( a total of 4850 km) we will need to cover gas and some overnight stays for our release crew. We estimate a cost of about $3500 in total to release all cubs.

We are gearing up for the next baby season. Our moose & deer have started to wander off and we are busy sanitizing facilities for new arrivals, which we expect to come in starting by the mid of May. We also expect to get calls on bear cubs soon, as the bears should come out of hibernation with the first signs of spring.

See you at the Bear Fest on Sunday, April 27....Ambleside in West Vancouver. Bring the family because there is fun for everyone.

I f you can’t make it I would love to hear from you anyway as you are part of the Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter family.
