THE "BATHTUB" LETTER - the SPCA at its finest

These employees must be fired before the SPCA can ever reform

November 6, 2000

To the Mayor and Council of the City of Coquitlam,

In 1998 we started having problems with a pair of young raccoons that were flipping newly placed sod in the backyard looking for food.

We rented a live trap from the SPCA in Coquitlam.

Two nights later after near success we decided to call and ask the SPCA what to do when we caught one.   They said “You can bring it here or you can fill your bathtub up and lower the cage into it. That’s what we will do when we get it.”

We asked about relocating them and they said “ The resident raccoons will chase them away and they might starve to death”.

We returned the trap and one of us compared the Coquitlam SPCA to Auschwitz.

Related pages that show the true side of the SPCA employees who see controlling unwanted or excess animals as their main, and for some, their only, job.   Note: SPCA employees everywhere have been like this for fifty years, but especially where the SPCA has an animal control contract, but more so where the employees are unionized and their union protects the SPCA from ridding itself of its career-killiers.
