Inspector Al O'Donnell responded to my letter *LINK*

I apologize for not posting sooner. Inspector Al O'Donnell responded to my letter about his being present in Nome at the Iditarod finish line. The article about him was so poorly written that it gave the impression that he'd be in Nome in 2011 when he was actually there 17 years ago. Here's what Inspector O'Donnell wrote:

Hi Margery,

Who better to respond to you than the subject of the article who caused you enough concern to inquire.

Unfortunately, news articles leave quite a bit to the imagination. The article is new, however, attending the opening of the Iditarod in Anchorage, Alaska took place some 17 years ago in 1994. Times were obviously different then and the public's education surrounding the race and the hardship on the dogs was relatively unknown.

I apologize for the anxiety this article caused you as I can see your love for dog's and their continued care is of genuine concern to you. My experience was a one-time event and only a by now a distant memory.

Thanks

Al
