The whole place went silent when she stood up and said that

When I was at the SPCA Gala fundraiser in 2010... one of the people there (I believe she was a volunteer) stood up and said, 'Why doesn't the SPCA take a step forward and support vegetarianism'. That was due to the fact that the animal welfare manager from the Vancouver office, Geoff Urton, had just shown a slide show on how to get people up and moving... saying it wasn't the first person who actually got things going, but the second person who follows the first person who does. I had wished when that poor woman stood up by herself to ask this, that I had followed suit..... but I've learned during my life that pushing something like that doesn't work too well, and it's people getting to know you and how you cope with life as a vegetarian that makes them take more interest in it.. because they can't believe that we're still standing and seem to be getting on with life as anyone else. Let's just say that the whole place went silent when she stood up and said that, and even Geoff couldn't really answer that question properly.

SPCA fundraiser serves up every kind of animal for profit
Be fair... the SPCA isn't profiting from dead dogs or cats or horses
Most people are still meat eaters so they are serving what the majority wants
Re: Most people are still meat eaters so they are serving what the majority wants
... is that a lie????
Should the SPCA be in business to give people what they want or to protect animals?
