And this does not require an injection into the vein.
Angela, you wrote: "And last but not least...if you think for one second that a WILD animal is not going to be stressed over the moon (often defecating/urinating themselves)..being restrained while a vein is found (and all involved are in fear of being bitten/scratched) to administer a lethal injection than I ask you to really really think about that for... Let me ask you this then. How are the vets able to spay and neuter your feral cats? Believe me, they are sedated first. Spay, neuter or death... they will be sedated first. One would be an absolute idiot to try otherwise.
Many owned pets get sedated prior to euthanasia. As well as prior to most procedures requiring an anesthetic.
I'm glad you are able to help those ferals, but sadly, fixing them is not the issue at the moment. Death by gassing is.
I spoke to an employee last week at Coastal who told me they do euthanize ALL cats at Coastal by gas, tame ones as well. I am puzzled by Sue Hughes denying that in her interview on CHEK TV. Either her employee was mistaken about Coastal's practices and policies, or Sue Huhges is.
It's never too late to change the way we do things. Coastal can change too.. *if* they wanted to.
Let me ask you this.. would you send one of your own pet cats to the gas chamber when it was time for them to be euthanized?
Vet clinics don't have gas chambers.. surely, this must tell you something.
