Has the BC SPCA ever reported puppymills to Revenue Canada or Provincial auditors, and if not, why not?

I agree that the necessity of turning to keepers of tax dollars for assistance in bringing to an end a lucrative puppy production business, marks a sad and horrific day for animals and for those people who truly care and love them. I believe however, that there will come a time when the "taxman" will question the fact that this and countless similar businesses have managed for a very long time to defraud the government by failing to declare income, which in some cases is used to top up money provided through Social Assistance, Employment Insurance, Workman's Compensation or government pensions.

When I visited one puppy production business, I was astonished (in my innocence and inexperience), to see that evidence of marijuana growing, another successful under-the-table money making business, was openly displayed.

In regard to the puppy production and reselling industry, who will be held accountable for allowing such unlawful and cruel business operations to not only continue but to grow in number and in assets, which include the "sellable product"? By its very name, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, immediately comes to my mind. I don't believe I will be alone in making that connection.

The BC SPCA has spent much time and energy reacting to well documented evidence which supports the criticism it is receiving. I cannot help but wonder how Board Members and administrators of this Society will answer the inevitable questions which will be brought to them by Revenue Canada. As sad as the route taken by one angry animal loving citizen is, this method may open more than a few cans of worms. That will not take away the sadness, nor will it address all animal welfare issues, but it may produce results in regard to the closing of Puppy Production and Selling businesses.

With no possible way of knowing the outcome,I will add the actions of the "taxman" to my watch list. I am sure that a little more help from the well researched and documented Animal Advocates Society Database would generate even greater interest. I wonder if a similar database is available from the BC SPCA? The creation of the Animal Advocates Society Breeder Database did require the dedication and meticulous work of a few volunteers. However,to use a familiar phrase, "it's not rocket science".
