I received this report today from E.N. of North Vancouver. Would you have the kindness to have the SPCA employees who accepted the three dogs for surrender and summarily recommended Zeus be killed, contact Ms N. with an explanation?

On Monday, February 16th, my daughter's dog Zeus was taken to the Vancouver SPCA and was immediately euthanized. Zeus was a four-year old shepherd cross that lived with my daughter and her boyfriend and his family in North Vancouver. For over three years, Zeus was kept almost continuously in one room and seldom allowed out.

Without my daughter's permission, Carl took Zeus and two other dogs that belonged to his brothers to the Vancouver SPCA. Zeus was quickly put through a temperament test check and failed, and Carl was instructed to take Zeus across the parking lot to the SPCA clinic to be euthanized, which he did.

I phoned the Vancouver SPCA today to ask two questions and was put on hold for one half hour. I phoned back and left a message but did not get a call in return.

What I want to know is this:

Why was Carl allowed to surrender dogs when he had no proof of ownership?

Why was Zeus killed without any chance given to him to be rehabilitated and rehomed?
