The cash-strapped B.C. chapter of the SPCA is being sued by its former CEO for $130,000 he claims he is owed in severance pay.

In his statement of claim, filed in B.C. Supreme Court, Doug Brimacombe says he was let go last May without cause. At the time, he drew an annual salary of $146,500 and an additional $22,000 a year in lieu of pension benefits, according to the document. He also was provided a car and all its expenses, plus extensive health benefits.

The action comes at a hard time for the B.C. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which has run multi-million-dollar deficits for the past two years.

Fired BC SPCA CEO (the second one in two years) sues over severance pay
SPCA said CEO not fired
He says..she says..who's the liar?
What's $168,500 and perks a year? It's chump change compared to Doug Hooper's $204,000 plus perks.
Brimacombe is staying true to his word
