Jeffries doing good work in Mission to help dogs

THE EDITOR:

Re: 'Group cries foul over SPCA tactics,' Times, March 26.

I am writing in regard to the SPCA trying to inspect the premises of Kathe Jeffries of the West Coast Spay and Neuter Society in Mission.

I have owned and operated a dog-grooming salon in Abbotsford for the past 17 years. For many years SANS has been bringing dogs to us to be cleaned up and groomed in the hope of giving them a better chance to be adopted. We have seen a multitude of dogs over the years. Mostly they are big breed dogs that have been discarded by the people they love when a puppy becomes a large dog. Or its when they get old and are deemed unworthy of the care they, like most of us, will need in their later years.

Kathe Jeffries has devoted her life to gathering these wonderful dogs and finding loving homes for them. I have never once seen anything but the utmost of care being given to the dogs by SANS.

I have been to Kathe's property and have been given a comprehensive tour of the entire premises. It was clean, very well organized, with space to play for every dog. Puppies, old dogs and fearful dogs all had their special needs seen to.

Kathe and the volunteers of SANS are exceptionally people. We should treasure the good work they do and find ways to show our support for them.

Jeffries gets utmost respect

It keeps my spirit at rest knowing there exists a further avenue for animal adoption once adoption time for certain dogs and cats has expired.

Lucky me, I was directed to Kathe Jeffries' West Coast Spay and Neuter Society in Mission. This woman has a true passion for the lives of dogs.

My Casey was one of Kathe's dogs. Casey is loving, intelligent, gorgeous and one of the fastest-running dogs at the parks.

I will do whatever I can to help her continue her good work. She has my utmost respect.
