Sally too was a yard dog

Sally is as eager to please as any dog could ever be. Yet Sally too was a yard dog...a medium sized cocker spaniel yard dog. Originally from a puppy mill, she ended up living with a family that sentenced her to three years at the end of a chain 24 hours a day, seven days a week, winter and summer. At the age of 10, Sally was dumped at the SPCA by her family. The owner surrender stated it was due to neighbor complaints of barking. There I found her, filthy, matted and extremely stressed.

Like Holly she bears no grudge in her new home. Every day is an adventure for Sally. Her eyes shine with eagerness, excited about toys, food, bedtime, companionship and love. Sally will live the rest of her days happy and loved like Holly.

There are too many Holly and Sally stories out there. Yes we need an honest SPCA; we also need breeding regulations to deter backyard breeders and puppy mills, laws prohibiting the chaining and isolation of dogs, and many more people like Lori who are willing to "teach an old dog new tricks." After all we reap what we sow.

My thoughts and condolences are with you Lori. Thank you for sharing Holly's story at such a difficult time.
