The SPCA has seized animals illegally because it has not followed the procedures set out in the PCA Act, that requires them to legally serve the accused with an Offence Warning Notice. This is sloppy policing at best, and it could jeopardize cruelty cases being prosecuted in a court of law.

In other instances, if the RCMP or city police do not follow the rules and read a person their rights, the case can be thrown out by a judge and the accused walks away even if they are guilty.

If the BCSPCA really wants to prosecute animal abusers, they'd better clean up their act, stop fouling up cases, and start being worthy of the badges given them by the Justice Institute.
