WHERE IS ODIE?
ODIE - THE VICTIM OF CROWDED SPCA "SHELTERING" POLICIES. THE SPCA NEEDS TO BE CHARGED WITH CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. EVEN UNDER ITS DELIBERATELY SKIMPY DEFINITION OF THE PCA ACT, IT SHOULD BE CHARGED BECAUSE OF THE ANIMALS IT ALLOWS TO BECOME "CRITICALLY DISTRESSED" IN ITS DEATH CAMPS.
Look at Odie shortly after he started his journey to hell at the Maple Ridge SPCA, still cheerful, bright-eyed, full of trust and good will. (Click here: http://www.animaladvocates.com/odie-before.htm )
Now look at Odie after six months in the "care" of the SPCA, the victim of SPCA policy to take all animals even when it is already too full to provide the barest of humane care, even when it means that an animal already being "sheltered" by it will be killed to make room for the next. HIS EYES HAUNT US. Click here for Odie's "after" picture: http://www.animaladvocates.com/odie-after.htm. Even though he was loved very much by the volunteers at the Maple Ridge SPCA he was moved over and over so that he repeatedly lost everything that was familiar to him, and everyone that was kind to him, forcing him to adjust to strange faces, strange prison cell mates, over and over and over. Being "abandoned" this way eventually crushed his body and his spirit. How could any agency that professes to love and understand dogs, do this?
What is the effect of SPCA pound contracts on overcrowding, on cold, frightening "shelters" (what a corruption of a decent word that is!), on the hiring of hard-nosed, secretive staff, on bottom-line business policies? Click here to understand how pound contracting is the antithesis of animal welfare and how the SPCA has built an huge animal disposal business using the SPCA name and reputation: http://www.animaladvocates.com/spca-shelter-shuffle.htm
The Maple Ridge SPCA volunteers made it their job to keep track of Odie as he was shuffled from branch to branch

Volunteers at the Vancouver SPCA report that Odie has ear infections and blood in his stool.
Odie's sad story is realted to Gail Moerkerken of Maple Ridge, a long-time SPCA watcher. Gail wants to know - where is Odie now?
SPCA staff at the Vancouver SPCA, the Maple Ridge SPCA and the BC SPCA all say that Odie has been adopted.
Gail is not convinced and contacts AAS and starts posting Odie's story on the AAS message board.
