PETA does not need to be in the animal disposal business -- They choose to be

I agree that CCF, and other organizations like it, are out to defame PETA for their own interests.
Their own interests include having animals farmed, eaten, hunted, used in the vivisection and the entertainment industry.

To say that PETA "opposes life-saving medical research, scares young children away from drinking milk, and even defends arsonists and other violent extremists, is very self serving to those in the medical, and dairy industries at the least.
I do not believe that medical testing using animals is of any use whatsoever. Many doctors who have researched the issue will say the same thing.
If we must do medical research we must do it on the non - animal models now available i.e. stem cell research.
It is unthinkable to me that animals are tortured on a daily basis to make billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical industries.

Scaring children away from drinking milk? Great!
Why do humans need to drink another species milk? We don't.
But the dairy industry wants us to believe we are negligent if we don't shove cow's milk down our children's throats.

Defending arsonists and other violent extremists?
Perhaps PETA does defend some of these people. Check it out.
The so called "extremists" are often very necessary to raise public awareness of an issue.
And no, I don't support violent actions against any living being, in case you're wondering.

But, unfortunately, in their own words, PETA does "euthanize" animals. Lots of them.
They are quite open about it. They say it is the kindest thing to do.
In the 2005 case of the two PETA workers collecting animals from vet's offices, and "shelters", they admitted to killing kittens - perfectly healthy kittens. Kittens that they had said they were going to have no trouble finding homes for.

PETA does not need to be in the animal disposal business. They choose to be.
In my mind, it goes completely against everything they stand for.
I still support PETA partially, for their animal cruelty exposes, for their educational material and so on, but I don't trust them anymore.
I don't think I'll ever be able to trust them since the correspondence I had with them after the trial, when they refused to apologize for killing the cats and dogs, but repeatedly apologized for the poor judgement their employees used in throwing the bodies in a dumpster.
Could it be they were just damned sorry to be caught?

PETA has put itself in an embarrassing situation and they have provided much fuel for the fire of hatred against them.
It's a shame, because if they would simply stop killing the animals, I would give them back my whole-hearted support.
How hard can it be to just stop killing the animals?

How do we partially support an organization that does wonderful work on one hand and kills unnecessarily on the other
An untenable position
