Finally! He is closed. Animals were sick and dying in great numbers in the past week or two and althought the owner was already on thin ice, a parvo outbreak was the last straw. The City moved in and suspended his licence. He attempted to ditch all the animals by announcing a free giveaway, which authorities stopped and would not allow until a vet had inspected all the animals. 20 dogs passed inspection, but no cats did. An additional 14 dogs and 40 cats are now at the Humane Society being treated. Several of the dogs tested positive for parvo and are being treated (pre-symptomatic.) This miserable excuse for a human being was all ready to hand out sick dogs and puppies to anyone who wanted one, in one last publicity stunt.

Anyone who adopted a dog from him in the past 2 weeks is being urged to get the dog checked at a vet ASAP. Despite these "setbacks", the owner, Donald LaFrance insists that he cares for these animals and just got in over his head. This is his 6th pet shop. The first four were aquarium stores, and the last two sold dogs and cats and were both closed because of animal neglect. Despite that, LaFrance believes that he should remain in the animal business and vowed to go and visit "his" animals at the Humane Society. Fortunately, the Humane Society was able to get him to sign over ownership, so these animals are now safe.

The goal now is to keep him from reopening elsewhere.
