Today AAS sent the email we received to the SPCA *LINK* *PIC*

We hope that the complainant cooperates with the SPCA. Although it may be too late to lay charges in the case of the husky pup, if it is no longer in distress, this store ought to be regularly inspected. AAS has received complaints about this store for 10 years. We documented what we saw and put it on our website seven years ago.

We took our concerns and documentation to the City of Burnaby, which decently formed a committee which I was invited to be part of. So were several pet store owners and the SPCA. Together they denied to City staff that there were any serious problems and that there were many complaints. Yet when some complainants had reported this store to the SPCA, they had been told, "Oh yeah, we're complained to all the time, but there's nothing we can do." So it died...

But there was something the SPCA could do and the proof is that the very same PCA Act has subsequently been used by the SPCA to seize from some pet stores and to make others improve.

We're glad the SPCA decided to use the PCA Act and are confident that at last something will be done.
