Manufactured confusion: Can unlimited surrender assist in the process of changing perceptions or does it entrench a culture of irresponsible pet-ownership?

True.

Not true.

"While killing healthy animals is not right..."

True.

"...neither is having them suffer."

Why are so many people like Jennifer still uninformed about the ethical conflict of a "humane society" doing the killing?

Who better than the SPCA to assist in altering the various socio-cultural reasons why people fail to make lifetime commitments to animals?

Can unlimited surrender assist in the process of changing perceptions or does it entrench a culture of irresponsible pet-ownership?

Jennifer posits two conflicting ethical problems for which seem to confuse her. Perhaps if Jennifer did some reading on this subject she would understand that there is a lot of manufactured confusion. There is also a lot of intelligent, thoughtful, informed, researched, and credible facts (some of it quoted on the AAS website) that would clear up her confusion... if she and all the many othes who are still so easily confused, wished to know the answers they seem not to have.
