Re: 'Deer have become destructive pests' (Your Letters, Daily News, May 23).

I have to agree with Mary Lou Nordstrom about nuisance deer. In our urban garden we have a gang of four who visit regularly, plus two others who take us for a bedroom.

All eat plants, break down the wire barriers around my vegetables and soft fruits and stand on hind legs to pull down branches and eat from the apple trees.

We are also their bathroom, it seems. The food goes in one end and out the other. On a memorable day last year when I had not collected for a couple of days, I scooped up 27 sets of droppings. There were 10 in the garden yesterday.

We are not supposed to put feces into the garbage. How are we expected to dispose of it? Mixed with grass and dirt? I do not choose to put it in the compost.

The sound of cars screeching to a halt to avoid them on the road is not uncommon.

We have lived in our home for 36 years and the past few have been a constant battle with the deer, pretty though Bambi may be.

Requests to the wildlife authorities got us nowhere.

We try to feed ourselves as far as possible. Venison would be welcome.

Deer have become destructive pests
People are more harmful to environment than deer
Anyone moving in, or into wildlife teritory has no right whatsoever to complain
Homeowners/developers have taken away their habitats, destroyed their original food sources, and basically refuse them their right to live
They just don't have a clue
