Too bad that all have forgotten what Rodeo is really about, and it's not money...... Yes the money helps some cowboys add income to their livelihood and helps during lean times but to just have a few events to appease the animal rights folks really doesn't make it right, you have now truly made rodeo 100% sport and it has nothing to do with showing people what goes on at a ranch.

I understand the animal rights folk don't like seeing calves roped but yet every meat eater out there has eaten a calf that's been roped at least once!!! Rodeo started as a place to display and show off ones ranch skills and really riding bulls has little to do with it. That's a crowd pleaser for sure!

I know many here hate rodeo and find it cruel but if you eat meat, feed it to your dogs/cats you indirectly have already supported roping.

Having worked on a ranch, done spring branding I have roped and wrestled calves and let me tell you riding bronc, bulls and bareback has little to do with ranch life, really that's an extra bonus for the audience.

So for those of you who protested all you have really done is made rodeo 100% sport. There is now no way to understand why people need to know how to rope or catch a cow, or how amazing and hard it really is. Kids who do eat meat will never see even an ounce of the work that goes into where their food comes from.

Rodeo can be a good lesson in life too. Those cowboys and girls work hard so those of you who eat meat, or feed your dogs and cats can do just that.

I was at another rodeo this weekend, you protesters weren't there? Was it too far to go? Not enough publicity? It was refreshing to just have people who appreciate life there.

Cloverdale was a good rodeo and had lots of educational information where parents could teach their kids where their food came from, teach them respect for the work and animals, which many city kids won't get.

As far as I am concerned Animal Rights people should be embarrassed for what they made Cloverdale into. It's truly now a mockery.
