Foster homes that have so lovingly given of their time, devotion, finances and emotions are now being abused and mishandled by the SPCA!
The SPCA has implemented a decision to alienate skilled and dedicated members of the community whose only interest in animal welfare was to assist the animal that was put into their care and to provide this soul with a normalized environment.
These homes have come forward to protect, rehabilitate, socialize and comfort animals who have been abused, neglected, and forgotten, yet the SPCA has decided that on a moments whim, without notice and without process, that 10 dogs that had been given a second chance in life should be returned to the puppy miller that allowed disease, breeding and medical conditions to go unchecked.
How much value does the SPCA place on foster homes when there is such disrespect allowed to flourish by staff members of this organization? It appears that very little concern is provided for those who have demonstrated time and time again that they will go the “extra mile” to support and love an animal in need.
The SPCA notes on their website that, “The BC SPCA Foster Program provides animals that have a good chance for adoption, but are either too young, sick, injured, unattractive, under socialized or emotionally stressed to survive in the shelter environment, an opportunity for rehabilitation in a nurturing foster home. Healthy adult animals are also placed in foster care when space is limited in our shelters”.
Just how many of these young, sick, injured, unattractive, under socialized or emotionally stressed animals are going to continue to receive assistance from foster homes that can no longer work with the SPCA due to the complete de-valuing of their skills? Fewer and fewer would be my guess.
Thanks SPCA, the animals lose again!
