At the same time that the SPCA was milking the Roanie story, Delta SPCA Manager Michelle Rodgers had Cheech in her cells too. By the time that Ms Rodgers decided to have Cheech killed, he had been there for months. No one wanted to to buy him and his story, being chained and neglected, is so common and so ignored by the SPCA, that he was only a money-loser, not a money-maker. Losers at SPCA's get short-shrift and so the order to kill Cheech was given.

It's well-known what happened next. Cheech was removed (stolen) right from under the noses of Rodgers and head office hit men who were rushed to Delta to enforce the order once CEO Craig Daniell found out that AAS was involved in trying to save Cheech's life.
