No better example exists of what must now be done for dogs under the slightest threat at SPCAs than the brave Delta SPCA staff and volunteers who removed Cheech to prevent SPCA management from killing him.

Temperament tests, "science" , full-time P.R. - these are all only necessary if you plan to keep killing dogs instead of rehabilitating them. It's time to stop arguing with the SPCA's lies, time to stop wringing hands in despair, time to stop complaining to each other, time to stop keeping silent about the atrocities you see as a volunteer or as a rescuer.

Time to stop hoping to make the SPCA "better" by helping it do its dirty work by silence.

No better action can be emulated than the action that saved Cheech's life. Start walking out with dogs that are at risk. Get them into waiting rescue. Take photos of the dog you are going to save at the SPCA. Get all the documentation you can lay your hands on. Take video of the dog while you're out walking it if you can. Get the opinion of other volunteers and decent staff and make careful notes. If there is an "incident" that the SPCA is going to use to justify killing the dog, talk to witnesses to get all the facts. Then walk out with the dog. When the dog is safe, call the media. What is the SPCA going to do with an insurrection it can't control or stop? It will go berserk, and when it feels threatened we now know what it does: it will crucify itself in the media by shrieking that the dog was a vicious danger to society, especially to children. It will froth and rant and contradict itself. It's "scientists" will be made fools of with questions they can't answer intelligently. The SPCA will be forced to the wall by acts of civil disobedience. And the media will be right there.
