The Brindleweb posts that alarmed the SPCA that another "Cheech" was about to happen

buddy from delta is now in surrey awaiting medical care...he is not doing well either and needs to get out of the shelter environment. he can be protective of his kennel and may bark when strangers pass, especially men in uniforms. i have heard he was not showing well as a result of this behavior. however, he is now depressed on top of having a sore leg and barely notices anyone passing by. he isn't even barking any more, he wouldn't even get up to greet people he knew that came to visit. please have a look at the big brown eyes below and go meet him or send someone you know to. his eyes are full of life and shining in these photos but sadly they are not any more...

Dog in desperate need

We are desperately looking for a foster home for a 2 ½ year old shepherd/lab cross named Buddy. Buddy was classified as adoptable in April. He has not adapted to the shelter and is now suffering from very poor welfare.
He was fostered in June in a household with two young children. He was returned for being destructive when left alone (separation anxiety).
He is now showing some defensive aggression (not pertaining to his temperament) and his welfare continues to deteriorate due to the long-term confinement.
He would greatly benefit from spending time in a foster home that can provide separation anxiety therapy, de-stressing exercises and some basic obedience for mental stimulation.
The use of Dog Appeasing Pheromones is also recommended.

If anyone can provide assistance, email me.

more on buddy....PLEASE HELP.

response to jackie's post; more info on buddy:

the home he was in was not a foster home but a potential adoption home and the destruction was to a pool cover he destroyed when left outside alone in the yard. he was only there 2 days and the family had NO experience with dogs; they had never had one before. i was supposed to do the homecheck for him but was called away to another dog emergency so it was done by a staff member who had not done one before. i am sure he did his best but do not know what recommendation were given to the family for when he was to be left alone. he got to the pool cover within 24 hours of being there and was back at the shelter right after that.
kirsten spoke to the previous family on the phone shortly after surrender and found out an older man in the neighborhood used to taunt buddy at the fence (a wire fence like the kennels have). he would hit buddy with sticks, hit the fence and yell at poor buddy whenever he passed by. this may explain why buddy is often grumbly and barks at people that stop at the kennel to see him. he is a great dog when out of the kennel and if you show him a leash he stops barking and gets ready to go for a walk. anyone can take him out if they have a leash in their hand but he often barks at people he doesn't know until they show him a leash. he was a real charmer when he first came in and a real goof. he looks like so many other dogs and is a bit overweight; another reason people may have just past him by. please give this boy a place in your home if you can.

From well-known rescuer, Mia Riback to AAS: There is a Buddy at the Surrey SPCA who originated at the Delta Branch, if ANYONE can get him out he NEEDS to be rescued. He's most likely going to be killed. He's just like Cheech in so many ways, has an injury that hasn't been looked at, stuck in the kennels depressed and lonley. I've met him, he's lovely once out of the kennel.
