May 15 Update:
Buddy is just that, a pal to everyone he meets. He loves to play ball and with toys of all kinds. He can play a little rough and likes to make noise when playing so will do best in a home with dog experience who understands his noisy and excited style of play. He is good with older kids; especially those who are dog savvy. He is a bit on the heavy side and could use a nice yard to play in and lots of walks to slim down. He is more than happy just to hang out with people but really should get a bit more excercise than he is used to. Buddy is a wider than he is tall and once slimmed down will be a more medium size dog. Buddy is pretty serious looking in his kennel but becomes a much happier and goofier guy once you take him out.

Upon arrival:
Buddy is a 2 1/2 year old dog who has become homeless as the new baby in his previous home developed allergies. He is a friendly, easygoing and eager to please young dog. Buddy has lived with children in his previous home and we have been told is good with children. He does play exhuberantly and would be best suited in a home with older children that can keep up to him when playing. As playful as he is he is a little on the tubby side and could use a bit more excercise than he has been used to. Buddy loves to fetch and will relinquish his ball or toys when asked, most of the time! However, he does try and start up a game of tug'o'war on occasion and this should be discouraged; especially if he is to live with children. He walks well on leash and has been taught to heel when walking. Buddy is housebroken and knows basic commands such as sit, lie down and shake a paw (demonstated in his photos to the right). Buddy is a well-mannered dog who would do well in most homes. He has never been destructive when left alone but may whine or bark occasionally. Buddy has not lived in a home with other animals but got along well with the other dogs he played with in his old neighborhood. His family used to brush him often and he enjoyed it very much. Regular grooming will keep his coat healthy and shiny. He loves car rides especially when they end at a park! Buddy may bark at strangers visiting the home and will need a proper introduction to new friends that come over. Once properly introduced he will be ready for them to throw that ball or to gently take a treat. Please drop by and say hi to Buddy. He has just come in to the shelter and is pretty sad right now. He could really use a friend; not to mention a new home!
