People will at last be able to "speak" for the animals the SPCA silences

In March 1992, Vancouver lawyer, Kim Roberts, said "One of the main reasons we have difficulty bringing animal cruelty cases to trial is that animals can't speak, so you don't have good witnesses".

AAS knows that there has many times been willing human witnesses to shocking and gruesome cruelty, and still the SPCA has not acted.

We are not going to give away too much information on this board...that will wait for the more public forum of a court if the SPCA persists in its attempt to muzzle us.

But some of the cases involve a dog being dragged behind a truck by its owner in front of many witnesses and the SPCA giving the dog back to the owner.

Another is a dog that was blow-torched in front of witnesses, and after being seized by the SPCA, the SPCA killed her, even though some vet care would have made her better. She was still walking and quite happy. They killed her while her tail was wagging at them. You can't get much worse luck than that can you? Betrayed and abused by your "owners", betrayed and killed by your "rescuers". No animal-welfarist would do that.

Another is the case of the social worker who took a group of mentally-challenged adults to an SPCA for weekly field trips. The SPCA got so used to having them around that it carelessly let the social worker and one of the group see it "dispose of" something wiggling in a plastic bag. Again, the details will be laid out in court. The "witnesses" will be heard! People will at last be able to "speak" for the animals the SPCA silences.
