The Biscuit Fund will be used to ensure that local shelters in communities across BC have the resources to respond to emergency situations.

Recently Pinky, a five-year-old poodle and Shih Tzu mix, was surrendered to the Powell River SPCA during a cruelty investigation. According to the SPCA, Pinky's fur was tightly matted, constricting her rear leg. The leg had a severe infection which affected her ability to walk properly. She has been receiving intensive veterinary treatment and the cost of her care is over $2,000.

Buddy, a three-year-old golden retriever rescued as part of a cruelty investigation, suffered from a dislocated hip and an ear infection. His treatment cost $1,200.

Because of the Biscuit Fund, Buddy will receive the surgery he needs and a new start with a loving home.

Pinky will also receive the treatment she needs and a second chance at adoption.

All of the donations given to the Biscuit Fund are spent on veterinary care and rehabilitation, with none of the money spent on administration costs.

To donate, interested readers can contact the Powell River SPCA at 604.485.2374, or visit the society's website at www.spca.bc.ca.
