Biscuit Fund? No Chance!

"SPCA Biscuit Fund helps in emergencies"

Well, it seems again that this 'fund' is a 'pick and choose' operation. Last October we had a young german shepherd cross dog that had been struck by a vehicle on the highway in Clinton - and naturally he was brought to my door.

Other than the dog's injuries he was happy (amazing under the circumstances) and appeared to be in good health. After an initial exam of this dog, it was clear that he had a fractured femur and possibly hip damage.

Knowing that I was unable to pay for this dog's needs I phoned the SPCA. The SPCA agreed to take this dog, however after some discussion, I was advised that there would be no guarantee that they could afford to pay for this dog's medical treatment. I was further advised that they would most likely have the dog euthanized.

This dog was transported straight to the vet clinic suggested by the SPCA. X-rays were performed and I was advised that the surgery may be in the area of $1000.00, and furthermore, that they (SPCA) would not pay for the procedure and the dog would in fact be euthanized.

I made inquiries regarding the biscuit fund and requested that an application be made to have this dog go through that program and receive his needed medical treatment. Although the SPCA staff were trying to do their best to get this dog his medical attention, I was advised that the decision NOT to access the biscuit fund for this dog was made by Mr. Bob Busch personally.

I was not going to allow for this dog to die because the SPCA wouldn't help him, so I looked at different alternatives. Thankfully, to many BC rescues coming together and donating funds, we managed to get this dog his treatment. This dog had a second chance at life... Chance is now a happy boy and living with his new family.

I later learned that a lady from Chance's community had donated $800.00 to the Kamloops SPCA for animals in need. This kind lady was very upset to learn that her monies had not helped this dog in any way... a dog from her community.

I wonder just how much of that money has been siphoned towards the legal bills for the SPCA's ongoing vendetta, in form of a lawsuit, against Animal Advocates??
