Putting a Stop to the Tragedy of Pet Over-population
The goal of the Clinic is to reduce the number of admissions to the Prince George shelter by 50% over a five-year period, thereby eliminating any need to euthanize adoptable animals in the future.

We believe we can achieve our goal of zero euthanasia of adoptable animals by 2010 if we are able to sterilize every animal at the shelter prior to adoption (approximately 2,000 animals a year) and we are able to spay and neuter 2,000 owned pets each year.

The 4,000 animals a year that we estimate will be sterilized each year, will lead to a significant drop in the surplus pet population.

Our experience in other parts of the province has lead us to the conclusion that our goal is attainable. In the Lower Mainland, the BC SPCA Vancouver Hospital has been tremendously successful in reducing pet over-population. The Hospital opened in the 1970's as a spay/neuter clinic, and has spayed over 200,000 animals since its inception.

By providing low cost spays and neuters we have encouraged local veterinarians to reduce their spay/neuter prices. As a result, far more pet owners in the Lower Mainland have spayed and neutered their animals resulting in a stable local pet population.

Help us spay and neuter 2,000 homeless animals in Prince George each year, so the community can reach zero euthanasia of adoptable animals by 2010

The Culture of Dishonesty - is it starting to change?
The SPCA has said for years that there is no way to keep track of statistics regarding animals deaths, euthanasia rates etc
This raises huge credibility questions about the BCSPCA
