The SPCA is making some progress in animal welfare

We were told by phone by a person phoning SPCAs to find a dog suitable for adotpion that the Surrey SPCA has or had a female spaniel in heat and that she couldn't be rehomed until after she was spayed. SPCa's used to sell intact dogs that could (and were) used for backyard breeding, dogs in heat, and pregnant dogs.

The same person told us that the Maple Ridge SPCA has or had an old Shih-tzu who had his teeth "done" and an operation for eyelash entropian by the SPCA.

We can't confirm any of this, but we hope it is true and if it is, we are very glad to hear it. Maybe the struggle to get the SPCA to actually do real animal welfare is bearing fruit. If it is, we congratulate the SPCA and urge it to keep doing this.
