Right, there are no laws in Canada that bans fur from being sold here, full stop. If Canada allows the brutal slaying of 1 million seals in 3 years where some of the seal fur is sold to places like China and Russia, why would they even care?
In the U.S.A. it is a different matter because it is against the law for them to import any seal fur or products using seal fur. I'm not sure on the law governing other furs but it sounds like it sneaks in undetected.
As for writing to people who will listen I would say that no political party in Canada will lift a finger to help because I've tried, especially the ones in power right now, since they are partly to blame for the sales of all fur just by being a part of the seal hunt that sells the seal fur, thus contributing to the fur selling industry worldwide.
Being that the U.S. and Europe are probably the two biggest buyers of fur clothing, I would go on the internet and seek out the government that deals with trade or something similar. Power of the Internet.
I would also go to the internet and google the Chinese government and get your contacts from there. This might be wasted time since they probably won't read anything that's written in English.(I'm not being racist because I've had that reply).
A lot of sites such as PETA have a whole list of people to write to and if they don't, then they have many links as to where you can get the information you want. But I have found that the letters I have sent probably go in the delete box, even before they are read, especially when the outfit that is doing the dirty deed has been made well aware of in the news.
I'm not trying to put you off, I'm just warning you that it will take a lot of effort on your part to get your protest read. But I keep on doing it and as long as I keep doing it, maybe more will follow and then they will have to stand up and take notice.
Good luck
