You can not sue us all, and you will not win

Below, see a copy of the post made by a member of Boxer Rescue Canada, which the BC SPCA has labelled as "defamatory" against the SPCA, and a reason to remove Boxer Rescue Canada from their list of rescues they work with.

Come on, the SPCA management needs to realize that if they refuse to work with well respected rescues like Boxer Rescue, over such things, then soon there will be no rescues left who will work with them. Then who will suffer, once again?.... the animals!!

It does not take a lawyer to decipher the clear message in the email below, which has absolutely no trace of slanderous or defamatory comments against the SPCA.

BC SPCA management has laid law suits against reputable animal rescuers, whose only so-called "crime" was that they have dared to speak the truth. I know that the SPCA worked with Big Dog Rescue in the past, a rescue whose practices were frowned upon by every other reputable rescue group.

Strange, isn't it, that SPCA management has crossed off Boxer Rescue from their list, but was known to work with Big Dog Rescue quite happily.

See link below re: SPCA seizes dogs from Big Dog Rescue:

It's time that BC SPCA management started realizing that the public, including reputable rescues such as Big Heart and AAS, will not be stopped from speaking the truth.

The initials SPCA stands for.... "Society for the Prevention Of Cruelty to Animals" BUT my question to SPCA management is..." Are you really standing up for the animals, and preventing cruelty? It seems to me that way too many times you are falling down instead of standing up, and the public has turned to reputable animal rescues like AAS for help, after receiving none from the SPCA.

This is the truth, and there are too many now that know the truth. You can not sue us all, and you will not win.

So, I say to SPCA management, give up the game and start being honest, instead of alienating rescues, thus continuing to hurt animals that need your help.

Mayor Diane Watts and Councillors,
City of Surrey

December 27th, 2005 I was driving on 176th ST. in Surrey, about the 3700 block. Two large mixed breed dogs were running at large, not too friendly as I tried to stop and see if I could get them into my van. I called the Surrey SPCA and left two messages. Closed for the day, only emergencies would be answered, dogs in distress or dangerous ones only. Strays etc would be dealt with the following day. This is what the message said. I truly hope they made it home safe. I drove the same way on my way home, just in case I saw them again. This time I had food to encourage them to be nice. No sign of them, but there was another large long haired dog at the side of the road. I crossed the hwy and parked to go see if it was hurt or dead. Dead. The collar had a piece of rope (about eight to 12 inches long) attached, frayed badly, chewed? I believe this poor dog was a tethered yard dog that had managed to escape his bonds and had died horribly and painfully, perhaps slowly. This dog had not just been hit, not sure how long it had been there, at least overnight I suspect. I called the Surrey SPCA again and left another message and my numbers to contact me. Again, no response.

I have three questions that I hope you will answer.

One: Do you consider that the SPCA's dog control contract is being carried out in accordance with its requirements?
Two: Do you think that allowing people to keep dogs in yards 24\7, tethered or penned or loose, in third-world conditions of cruelty, a credit to the City of Surrey's reputation?
Three: Do you think that paying a dog control contractor to pick up and dispose of the bodies of dogs that have died trying to escape the misery of a life of isolation, responsible stewardship of taxpayer's money?
Four: Will you adopt a bylaw limiting the hours to one hour a day that a dog may be kept in a yard, on a chain or other tether, in a pen, on a porch or deck, or in a garage or buildings other than a house?

Sincerely,
Lesa Ibarra

I fail completely to see the logic of how removing Boxer Rescue from the list of “approved rescues” will help the dogs that need to be helped
To do anything that would jeopardize the health and happiness of animals, because of what basically is a grudge, is wrong
It's ridiculous to see that instead of answers, Boxer Rescue Canada was stricken from the SPCA's approved list
