SUNNY

by Marion Boulstridge

Most animals come into the pound either scared and nervous, or seemingly not bothered at all, but sometimes they come in very bad shape indeed. This is what happened to Sunny. He arrived at the pound with large open infected wounds, a foot with no skin on it and a temperature so high he could barely lift his head. It looked like the end for Sunny, but thank heaven the Animal Crusaders were there to help. Sunny was rushed to the vet where he received antibiotics and lots of stitches. He also received a stylish hair cut to remove mats, vaccination and neutering. Sunny is a lovely boy who is very grateful to be alive!! He will tell you any chance he gets how much he loves life and living. Instead of an untimely death, his future is looking bright and well you know,....SUNNY!!!
We are all so grateful that Sunny is making a speedy recovery and will be available for adoption soon. His care has come at some cost however to the Greater Victoria Animal Crusaders. Any amount you could spare to help pay for animals like Sunny is greatly appreciated. You can also rest assured that EVERY penny given to the Animal Crusaders is spent on the animals themselves.

Rescued cat killed by the SPCA raises questions of secrecy and lack of care
Sometimes only a bit of help gives a cat a new lease on life
Simple policy changes could have prevented this
I have sat on the sidelines and watched the SPCA for more years than I can name
In Victoria, the pound, the police, and Greater Victoria Animal Crusaders are partnering to do real animal welfare: Logan the bunny *LINK* *PIC*

The Ministry of Environment decided from the start that they would not want to release Helena
What is most disturbing is the SPCA's lack of explanation and communication
