Horse 'Rescuers' responses *LINK*

There is a site online called Island Equine Rescue and Recovery. Please visit their forum to see what so-called horse rescuers are saying about the tragedy at the Calgary Stampede.

Some statements from these people are so incredulous that I have resigned as a member and am ashamed to have been part of their organization.

I hope that you who are enlightened will consider posting on their forum and help the members there discover what true animal rescue looks like.
Here is my last posting to their site:

"Caring chuckwagon people"? "It was an accident, it happens"? "Yes, it's sad that some horses died, I agree. But why all the uproar"? "To do what they are good at and enjoy life to the fullest, we may not all agree or get it...but it really is that simple.."? "It's a freaking ACCIDENT it happens....I don't see protesters out there after a tragic accident on the track, do you?"? "The horses that are picked up by these trainers and drivers are not "forced" into anything, if they dont run, they dont run..."?

Quotes from postings by Horse Rescuers??

I cannot believe that you people who honestly consider yourselves to be compassionate to horses and work so hard at rescue can actually believe the statements you have made here.

Where is the evidence that horses love to pull wagons and love to race in crowded race tracks? Have you ever seen this in the wild? And if they are truly in it for the joy of it, why are whips necessary to spur them on?

All of these so-called 'sports' were created by humans to make money for humans - period.

When I find a true rescue for horses, that have the proper mentality I will be as supportive as I can be, and will revel in the companionship of like-minded people, who are not living in the past.

BTW, for a look at the mindset of enlightened animal rescuers, please take a look at the forum at: Animaladvocates.com under the heading: The Watchdog.

You can flame me all you wish now, I am finished here. I will not even be lurking, so there is no point in tempting me to respond to your angry, uninformed rebuttals.
