What has the SPCA done to prevent the cruelty to the animals at the Calgary Stampede - which is known to many of us as "Hillbilly Fest"?

What has the SPCA done to prevent the cruelty to the animals at the Calgary Stampede - which is known to many of us as "Hillbilly Fest"? This year 3 horses died at the Chuckwagon Races. The only thing the owner was concerned about was that his Insurance would not cover the deaths! I do not go to the Stampede because of its cruelty (this year in 30 degree heat to boot!) but a fellow animal lover told me that when he went in 2006 when a horse died at the Chucks the Rodeo people were there fast surrounding the poor animal with a tent. Out of sight out of mind. Interesting - although they call it the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" the attendance has not increased even with Calgary's unbelievable population growth. Perhaps some are waking up

I too was raised in Alberta on a farm
