Animal Advocates Watchdog

Why is it always about us?

Why does an animal have to be our companion, or a "companion species" for us to object to it being slaughtered and eaten?
Why is it always about us?
Animals do not exist for us, not for food, not for entertainment, not for furniture, not even for our companionship.
They exist for their own reasons, which I will assume means that none of them desire to be slaughtered and consumed.
