PAF Marathon Feral Cat "Spay/Neuter Day" !

Here's a run-down of our Canada Day Marathon:

Dr. Janice Crook of Mosquito Creek Vet Hospital and her vet technician, Jen Dickson, very kindly offered their time on Canada Day to do a marathon spay/neuter day for PAF feral cats. So, while others were watching parades and celebrating with pancake breakfasts, TEAM PAF was busy helping feral cats from both the City of North Vancouver and the Squamish Capilano Reserve.

Of course, you need cats to fix so I headed out of the house about 7:45am, in the early morning sunshine, to trap! Didn't take long before I had 3 so I had to bring them home to wait in the cool of our garden shed while I trapped more. At noon, everyone assembled at the clinic and the surgery line got under way. Taylor came to help and all of us kept busy doing the various chores required to make the day run smoothly. Lunch and coffee runs helped to keep us fueled and the energy up ! In total 7 cats were done.

The links below capture photos over a two day period from trapping to release of the recovered ferals. There were so many photos I did them in 3 links.

Thanks so much to Janice, Jen, Tony and Taylor for their wonderful help on Canada Day and thanks also to all who feed at our many stations. It's a team effort to help these little guys! We're making a difference in their lives and in our community.

So far this year the Vernon & District Animal Care Society has TNR'd 104 feral cats *LINK*
Factual educational material about feral cats needs to be supplied to the general public, vets, etc...
